- Every site is scored out of 10 on eight criteria with fixed weights summing to 100%.
- Biggest weights: fairness and trust (20%) and payouts and CA$ cash-out (20%).
- Bonuses matter, but only 10%, and we value low wagering over big headline numbers.
- Affiliate links never change a score. Ratings are an editorial opinion, not a guarantee.
Why we publish our method
Ranking pages are only as useful as the logic behind them. We earn commissions through links on this site, so readers rightly ask whether ratings can be trusted. Publishing our criteria and weights lets you check our work, disagree with it and adjust it to your own priorities. Our ranking of CS2 gambling sites in Canada uses this method for every site, including our flagship brand CSGOEmpire.
The scoring model
| Criterion | Weight | What we look at |
|---|---|---|
| Fairness and trust | 20% | Provably fair systems, transparency about odds, company history, terms clarity |
| Payouts and CA$ cash-out | 20% | Withdrawal speed, limits, fees, routes to CA$ via crypto or skins |
| Game selection and odds | 15% | Variety, house edges, original games, case pool quality |
| Bonuses and rakeback | 10% | Real value after wagering, clarity of terms, free cases |
| Deposits and Canadian access | 10% | Interac, crypto, skin deposits, CA$ display, access in provinces |
| Usability and mobile | 10% | Interface, speed, mobile experience, account setup |
| Support | 5% | Response time, quality, hours, languages |
| Responsible-gambling tools | 10% | Limits, cool-offs, self-exclusion, clear help links |
The overall score is the weighted average of the eight 0 to 10 scores. We round to one decimal place. A site that is a 9 on bonuses but a 4 on payouts cannot rank highly, because the payout weight is double the bonus weight.
Criteria in detail
Fairness and trust (20%)
We check whether outcomes are generated with a provably fair method, whether hashes and seeds are shown, and whether the verification process works. Our explainer provably fair explained describes what that means. We also consider how long a brand has operated, how it communicates changes, and whether terms are clear about account restrictions. Provably fair is necessary, not sufficient: it proves a result was not altered, but does not mean the house edge is low.
Payouts and CA$ cash-out (20%)
For Canadians, the real question is how easily winnings become money in a bank account. We test deposit and withdrawal flows where practical, including time to receive funds, minimums, fees and verification steps. We also look at whether the cash-out path is realistic: skins to Steam wallet costs 15% and gives no cash, so we prefer sites with crypto withdrawals that route to a FINTRAC-registered exchange and then to a bank account at RBC, TD, Scotiabank, BMO or CIBC.
Game selection and odds (15%)
We prefer breadth, but we also reward lower house edges. A site with crash at about 1% edge scores better here than one with only high-edge games. Case quality matters too: we review published odds and item pools.
Bonuses and rakeback (10%)
We calculate value after wagering costs using the method in our wagering calculator and rakeback calculator. A smaller bonus with no wagering can beat a huge headline with 40x turnover. Advertised amounts are usually in USD; we show approximate CA$ equivalents.
Deposits and Canadian access (10%)
Interac e-Transfer, crypto and skin deposits are all valued, as is the ability to display and think in CA$. We note whether a site restricts any provinces and if there are clear age gates (19+ in most provinces, 18+ in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec).
Usability and support (15% combined)
We test the signup path, speed, search, mobile layout and clarity of balances. For support, we send test questions through live chat or email and record response time and helpfulness.
Responsible-gambling tools (10%)
We look for deposit limits, loss limits, session reminders, cool-offs, self-exclusion and visible links to help. Sites without tools are marked down. See our responsible gambling page for what we consider good practice.
What lowers or removes a rating
- Unresolved withdrawal complaints or sudden unexplained account freezes.
- Terms that change retroactively or hide key conditions.
- No verifiable fairness mechanism.
- Aggressive marketing toward minors or at-risk players.
- Misleading bonus claims.
Independence and limitations
Affiliate relationships are described in our affiliate disclosure. Commission rates are not an input to the scoring model, and sites cannot request or purchase ratings. Our editorial team scores sites collectively and reviews changes. Even so, ratings are an editorial judgment at a point in time, built partly on public information and limited testing. Sites change quickly, and your experience may differ. Offers, codes and bonus amounts are as advertised by the sites and may change.
Finally, none of our ratings should be taken as encouragement to gamble. Offshore skin sites are not licensed by iGaming Ontario or the AGCO, and licensing and rules vary across provinces. Gamble only with money you can afford to lose. If you need help, call ConnexOntario at 1-866-531-2600 or see our responsible gambling page.
Frequently asked questions
How are the ratings calculated?
Each site is scored out of 10 on eight weighted criteria. The weights add up to 100% and produce the overall score shown in our ranking.
Do affiliate commissions affect rankings?
Commissions exist, but they do not change scores. Criteria and weights are fixed, and sites cannot buy a higher rating.
How often do you update ratings?
We review sites periodically and whenever we see a material change such as new terms, a payout problem or a new feature.
Do you test with real money?
Where practical our team uses small real-money deposits and withdrawals to test processes, and we note what we could not test.
Can a site be removed from the ranking?
Yes. Unresolved payout problems, unfair terms or safety concerns can lead to a lower score or removal.
Play responsibly: CS2 gambling is for adults 19+ (18+ in AB, MB, QC). Set limits, never chase losses, and use self-exclusion if it stops being fun. Free, confidential help: ConnexOntario 1-866-531-2600 or your provincial helpline — see our responsible gambling page.
